One of the mountain sport industry’s top marketing strategists, MJ steers brands through a robust customer journey process with irrefutable insights, analytics and metrics. Her affinity for unearthing business problems and solutions translates into tangible brand and sales growth across all channels.
Andrea (Winger is what we call her around here) is a visual storyteller and creative thinker. Tell her your problem and she’ll have an answer for you, most likely in storyboard format with her infamous stick figure drawings. Her directing approach has allowed her to work with numerous brands including lululemon, Microsoft and Audi. She and her sidekick Snowball can often be found deep in the backcountry, searching out the freshest air possible.
Whether tucked in a small camp on the southern coast of Maine or in the beautiful Rockies of Colorado, Laura's love for all things outdoors is infectious. She lived in a yurt for four years and currently resides in the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado, where she is an avid skier and mountain biker. With over eight years of experience in marketing, PR, and communications, she has a strong knowledge in digital marketing, content distribution and loves helping clients grow their business. For the last seven years, Laura has worked in the outdoor industry in roles like 'Associate Media Director', where she's been responsible for full funnel media planning strategies.
Hailing from agencies in the U.K., David is a shining example of what happens when you do what you love and the rest falls into place. Moving to the mountains with his digital marketing flair in tow has justified his bias for “board meetings” with clients like Squaw Valley or bonding over après with Wiegele and Salomon.
From mountains to marketing trends, Andy is drawn towards pushing the edge and exploring new terrain. He lays a rock-solid framework for strategic solutions that build up the brand for the likes of Salomon, Whistler Blackcomb, Sun Peaks Resort, and Sierra-at-Tahoe. Post-work, the former Montanan’s taste for off-the-grid adventures has led him to the rooty trails of the PNW, steep pillow lines in the Rocky Mountains, and warm-water waves in exotic, undisclosed locations.
By all accounts (in fact, for all accounts), Lucy is a project wizard: managing deadlines, budgets and to-do lists—and making sure they all work efficiently together. She comes to Origin after five years of international marketing experience, most notably having managed an award-winning rebrand for 250 hotels across 46 countries in the Hilton Hotels & Resorts EMEA portfolio. With dreams of competing in the Great British Bake-Off one day, the Brit is just as cozy in the woods, in a tent, or in a powder field.
With two simple ingredients—innovation and design disruption—he can bring multiple ideas to life, giving fresh perspectives to a job of any size. All while doing so with a meticulous eye for pixels, punctuation, and team leadership. Big jobs for clients such as Salomon, Whistler Blackcomb, Jay Peak Resort, and Sun Peaks Resort have primed his appetite for equally big adventures like motorcycle racing, sky diving, skiing, or eating a bowl of Cocoa Krispies with his young daughter.
God put Joanie on the planet to refute the old adage, “If you need something done right, do it yourself.” Anyone who’s ever worked with her knows if you want it done right, you give it to Joanie. As you might expect, she loves Excel spreadsheets only slightly more than her snowboard, mountain bike, and cooking with wine.
Based in Toronto, Steve St. Jean brings with him a striking fervor that bolsters whatever medium he touches. This vigor is rooted in his deep passions for skateboarding, music, and photography which he draws from as he leaves his mark on every empty canvas his digital brush touches. With over 10 years of design and art direction experience within agencies big and small, Steve’s a reminder to us all to never settle for “good enough”.
Seth comes from south of the border but has assimilated into Canadian life so well we often forget. Born and raised around San Francisco, Seth quickly cultivated a passion for the outdoors that led him into the enthralling world of video and the Coast Mountains of BC. Following a stint at Powder Magazine as video lead, Seth decided full-time Origin life was the life for him after usurping strategist Andy Bethune’s reign as the only man-bun-wielder in the office.
For someone that has America’s Dairyland on her license plate, Kayli’s rarely seen consuming that much milk. But what she lacks in dairy consumption she more than makes up for in design chops. As a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota Duluth in marketing & graphic design, Kayli joins us as she balances her alter ego as a professional snowboarder with her passion for typefaces.
Jayde joins us after an 8-year stint at Red Bull in his home country of Australia where he cut his teeth in the world of consumer behaviour, brand campaign development, and project management. Having now settled in Montreal, Jayde is equally excited to join Origin as he is about the world-class fishing and amazing mountains surrounding his (slightly colder) new home of Canada.
Felix wears a lot of hats, both literally and figuratively. Toeing the line while helping bridge the gap between strategy and creative, Felix is always moving up and down from the 10,000 foot view to the 10 foot view of things. When not blending his passions of brands and brand building, Felix can be found either ski touring, rock climbing, hiking, or mountain biking somewhere deep in the Coast Mountains.
Fresh from a couple of years spent in Chamonix crafting a passion for jagged technical peaks and fine cheese and meats, Deanna is back in her native province of British Columbia and has made Origin her new home. With a Bachelor of Commerce from UVIC and a passion for the mountains to boot, Deanna brings a diverse skill set that has her in charge of promoting the Origin brand to the world as well as making sure that the Origin train stays on track.
Graeme captures light, movement, and sound in a way that can seem more real than reality. Known around the office as Graemstradamus, he’s one of the most forward thinking and technically astute people you are likely to meet. His cinematography has been bringing home awards since before it was his job, winning 2014 Amateur Film of the Year at IF3, and most recently taking home Best in Show at the 2018 Banff Mountain Film Festival.
Fluid in code and web development, Lindsay’s skills are best summed up as “things we only pretend to understand when he describes them.” We know he’s good because our ideas actually come to life on the web. This South African-turned-Aussie’s expertise runs far and wide, much like his hunger for global adventures like partaking in a tomato fight in Valencia, running from bulls in Pamplona, sailing in Croatia, and snowboarding in Bulgaria. We actually feel bad keeping him at his desk.
You know you have a calling for account management when you get stoked on a Gantt chart and find pleasure in checking off To Do items on Basecamp. Becky’s sincere enthusiasm for such systems has resulted in well-managed projects for Sun Valley Resort, Visit Sun Valley, Tourism Whistler, TELUS, Lululemon, and Destination British Columbia. The proud owner of a growing one-piece ski suit collection and a perpetual DIY crafter, Becky is always on the hunt for unique ideas to inspire her next project.
At Origin, when you know how to get shit done, you become a producer. In Lainey’s case, she brings projects over the finish line flawlessly, and manages to do it with both clients and teammates loving her. Lainey’s held client service and project management roles for agencies in Canada, Ireland, and Australia, mastering the international language of “on time” and “on budget.” Like everyone else at Origin, Lainey spends her spare time playing outside. Unlike everyone else at Origin, she also jumps out of airplanes.
Whether you need a killer campaign concept, a headline that will make you think twice, or a 160-page thesis on trail sustainability, Quinn uses words to bring ideas into reality. Seasoned in the craft of good-old-fashioned ad copy, his skills have evolved across mediums: from scriptwriting for some of the industry’s raddest videos to thoughtful insight pieces on outdoors marketing. It’s no coincidence Quinn’s active involvement in mountain sports and original thinking have led to some of the industry’s most memorable language.
With a knack for perfectly timed sharable photos and clickable links, John’s social content has graced the screens of approximately 93.4 million fans’ digital devices. Just look at some of his projects for MEC, CMH Heli-Skiing, Smartwool, or his personal photo portfolio. Offline, if he’s not actively skiing, biking, or drinking beer, he’s probably taking photos of it.
Cato is a rare combination of creative and technical. She eats, sleeps, and breathes style sheets, Pantone numbers, paper weights, and ad specs...unless she’s hiking, Nordic skiing, rock climbing, yoga-ing, or bike commuting to work.
We can hear Lenka clapping in the background any time the words “wild” and “imagination” are smashed together. A firecracker of a graphic designer, she’s as comfortable flicking Adobe Illustrator’s pen tool across the screen as she is swimming among eels 100 metres below the water’s surface. When it’s time to Cmd+Q, Lenka refills her creative cache with bikes, lakes, snow, and cities.
A veteran of typography and photography, Gary commands design software to bend to his visual craftsmanship. His style has resulted in stunning print, digital, and interactive projects for all of Origin’s major clients. A competitive Ironman athlete, Gary is usually running, biking, swimming, or splitboarding any day of the week. Sometimes all in the same day.
